Life is full of amazing opportunities and it never ceases to amaze me how I cross paths with the most fabulous people. One Sunday morning I’m scrolling through my Facebook feed when a photo that one of my friends has liked catches my eye…. a friendly, smiling face with orange flowers in her hair. I clicked the link to find out more about this person, then her business and was totally blown away by her amazing photography… and that is how I became friends with the wonderful Sophie Kerr.
Sophie Kerr PhotographyA few weeks later Sophie got back in touch and invited me to join a 70s themed bridal shoot she was planning at Pimhill Barn near Shrewsbury; I jumped at the chance to work with this fabulous lady. We chatted through ideas for the headpieces and jewellery, shared inspirational photos and it quickly became apparent that we were on the same wavelength.

Sophie chose two distinct 70s inspired looks for the bridal shoot. The first was ethereal and romantic with a flower crown and a soft floaty chiffon wedding dress. A pair of statement Lois bridal earrings were added; the freshwater pearls perfectly highlighting the ivory wedding dress. The long slender articulated design of these stunning wedding earrings accentuated the model bride’s long neck and tumbling curls.
To complete this romantic wedding look a Daisy ribbon tied cuff was added, the chiffon flowers reflecting the soft, flowing fabric of the dress and flower elements of the crown.

The second bridal look was more edgy with a nod to 70s fashion style icons like Cher and Bianca Jagger with heavier eye make-up, boho chic gypsy styling with sparkling flowery details. The dramatic pearl embellished lace brow band (Julia Headband) and the matching Julia cuff bracelet chosen reflected the design elements of the beautiful double layered lace wedding dress and epitomises the relaxed style of this iconic era.

The same model then swapped her bridal headpiece for a Naomi bridal vine; the cascading pearl and diamante fronds perfectly suiting her half up hair. This needed minimal jewellery and a dainty pair of Anya earrings was all that was needed to create a bridal frame around her face.
The day of the shoot was blessed with spring sunshine; the barn wedding venue was surrounded by blossom and daffodils. Relaxed and fun, I worked with a wonderful group of wedding professionals who I have no hesitation in recommending; please take a moment to see their links at the end of this blog post.
Sophie was an absolute joy to work with and her shoot was organised to the last detail; we finished within five minutes of the scheduled end! She was welcoming, we laughed all day long and I can’t thank her enough.
